Namaste and welcome to hindipod101.com, the easiest, quickest and smartest way to learn Hindi online. My name is Anuj Khurana and today, we are going to discuss 25 verbs in Hindi. So let’s begin. |
1. होना (hoNaa) “to be” |
So the first verb is होना (hoNaa) which means “to be” |
आप कहाँ पर हो? “Where are you?” |
2. के पास होना (ke paaS hoNaa) “to have” |
Our next verb is के पास होना (ke paaS hoNaa) which means “to have” |
मेरे पास एक कुत्ता है। (mere paaS ek kuTTaa hai.) “I have a pet dog.” |
3. करना (karNaa) “to do” |
Our next verb is KarNaa which means “to do” |
चलो, मिलके जॉगिंग करते हैं। (chalo, milke jaugiNg karTe hain.) “Come on, let's go jogging together.” |
4. बोलना (bolNaa) “to say” |
Our next verb is bolNaa which means “to say.” |
राहुल ने क्या बोला? (raahul Ne kyaa bolaa?) “What did Rahul say?” |
5. समझाना (SamjhaaNaa) “to explain” |
समझाना (SamjhaaNaa) which means “to explain” |
क्या आपने अपने दादाजी को समझाया (apNe DaaDaajii ko Samjhaa Diijiegaa.) |
“Did you explain it to your grandfather?” |
6. सुनना (SuNNaa) “to hear” |
Our next verb is सुनना (SuNNaa), which means “to hear” |
क्या आपने वो आवाज़ सुनी? ((kyaa Aapne vo aavaaz SuNii?) “Did you hear that sound?” |
7. जाना (jaaNaa) “to go” |
Our next verb is जाना (jaaNaa), which means “to go” |
सुमन स्कूल जाएगी। (SumaN Skuul jaaegii.) Suman will go to school. |
8. जानना (jaaNNaa) “to know” |
Okay. So moving on, our next verb is जानना (jaaNNaa), which means “to know” |
क्या आप फ्रेंच जानती है? (kyaa aap freNc jaaNTe hai?) “Do you know French?” |
9. लेना (leNaa) “to take” |
लेना (leNaa), which means “to take” |
नितिका अपने साथ अपने कुत्ते को लेकर गयी। (Nitika apNe SaaTH apNe kuTTe ko lekar gayii.) “Nitika has taken her dog along with her.” |
10. देखना (DekhNaa) “to see” |
Next verb is देखना (DekhNaa), which means “to see”. |
मोहन फिल्म देखने गया है। “Rohan has gone to watch a movie.” |
11. आना (aaNaa) “to come” |
Okay. So our next verb is आना (aaNaa), which means “to come” |
Aaj mahimaajii aaeNge. “Today, Mahima will come.” |
12. सोचना (SochNaa) “to think” |
Our next verb is Sochnaa which means, To think. मैं आपको सोचकर बताता हूँ। (main aapko Sockar baTaaTaa huun.) Let me think and I’ll get back to you. |
13. देखना (DekhNaa) “to look” |
Our next word is DekhNaa which means “to see”. |
यहाँ से पूरा शहर दिखाई देता है। (yahaan Se puuraa sahar Dikhaaii DeTaa hai.) “We can see the whole city from here.” |
14. चाहना (caahNaa) “to want” |
Next verb is caahNaa. To want. आप क्या लेना चाहेंगे? (aap kyaa leNaa caaheNge?) “What would you like to have?” |
15. देना (DeNaa) “to give” |
देना (DeNaa), which means “to give” |
वह फ़ाइल मुझे देना। (vah faail mujhe DeNaa.) “Please handover that file to me or Please get that file to me.” |
16. इस्तेमाल करना (iSTemaal karNaa) "to use” |
Our next verb is इस्तेमाल करना (iSTemaal karNaa), which means "to use” |
मेरी दादी को कम्प्यूटर इस्तेमाल करना आता है। (merii DaaDii ko kampyuutar iSTemaal karNaa aaTaa hai.) “My grandmother knows how to use computer.” |
17. ढूंढना (dhuuNdhNaa) "to find” |
The next verb is ढूंढना (dhuuNdhNaa) "to find” |
मानव अपना फ़ोन ढून्ढ रहा है। (maaNav apNaa foN dhuuNdh rahaa hai.) “Manav is looking for his phone.” |
18. बताना (baTaaNaa) "to tell” |
बताना (baTaaNaa), which means "to tell” |
मुझे वह कहानी फिरसे बताओ। (vah kahaaNi phirSe baTaao.) “Please tell me that story again.” |
19. पूछना (puuchNaa) "to ask” |
पूछना (puuchNaa),which means "to ask” |
मुझे आपसे कुछ पूछना है। (mujhe aapSe kuch puuchNaa hai.) “I want to ask you something.” |
20. काम करना (kaam karNaa) "to work” |
Our next verb is काम करना (kaam karNaa), which means “to work” |
रहीम काम कर रहा है। (rahiim kaam kar rahaa hai.) “Ram is working.” |
21. लगना (lagNaa) "to seem” |
दीवारों पर यह रंग ज़्यादा गाढ़ा लग रहा है। (Diivaaron par yah raNg zyaaDaa Gooda lag rahaa hai.) “This color seems to be very dark on the walls.” |
So, we are going to discuss the same words again because it can be taken in different context also. |
So, लगना (lagNaa) can be taken as “Are you feeling it?” लगना (lagNaa) is the Hindi verb which can be taken as “to feel” |
क्या आपको गर्मी लग रही है? “Are you feeling hot here?” |
So लगना (lagNaa) can be taken in two different ways. |
22. कोशिश करना (kosis karNaa) "to try” |
कोशिश करना (kosis karNaa) which means "to try” |
मैं पढ़ने की कोशिश कर रहा हूँ। (main parhNe kii kosis kar rahaa huun.) “I am trying to study.” |
23. निकलना (NikalNaa) “to leave” |
Our next verb is निकलना (NikalNaa) which means “to leave” |
वह अभी घर से निकला है। (vah abhii ghar Se Niklaa hai.) “He has just left from home.” |
24. बुलाना (bulaaNaa) “to call out” |
Our next verb is बुलाना (bulaaNaa) which means “to call out.” |
आपकी मम्मी आपको बुला रही है। (aapkii mammii aapko bulaa rahii hai.) |
“Your mom is calling out for you.” |
25. समझना (SamajhNaa) “to understand” |
So next verb is समझना (SamajhNaa) “to understand” |
मुझे फ़ारसी समझ नहीं आती। (mujhe faarSii Samajh Nahiin aaTii.) “I do not understand Farsi.” |
