High frequency Hindi adjectives.
In this lesson, we'll cover some highfrequency adjectives to help you express yourself in various situations.
In Hindi, "It's delicious" is Yah swadisht hai.
Yah swadisht hai.
Let's break it down by syllable: Yah swadisht hai.
Now, let's hear it once again: Yah swadisht hai.
The first word Yah, means "this" or "it's."
Let's hear it one more time: Yah.
Then, we have swadisht, which in English is "delicious."
swadisht.

And then, we have hai, which means "is."
To recap, when describing something in Hindi, you use the verb "to be," which is the third person singular of "is."
So, all together, we have Yah swadisht hai, which means "It's delicious."
Now, let's go over some other adjectives that you can use with the pattern we just introduced. Let's try "hot," as in spicy.
In Hindi "It's hot," is yah Teekha hai
yah Teekha hai
The word for "hot" is Teekha.

If you are referring to the temperature instead, "it's hot" in Hindi is Yah garam hai.

The word for "hot" in this case is garam.

The opposite is Yah thanda hai.
Yah thanda hai.
Therefore, the word for "cold" in Hindi is thanda.

Be careful In Hindi, we use a different pattern for temperature when talking about the weather. If you are referring to the weather in Hindi, "it's hot" is mausam garam hai.
mausam garam hai.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it one more time: mausam garam hai, which means, "The weather is hot."

Therefore, "it's cold" in Hindi would be mausam thanda hai.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it once again: mausam thanda hai.
mausam thanda hai, which means "The weather is cold."
In Hindi, "it's far" is Yah Door hai.
Yah door hai.
The word for "far" is Door.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it once again: Door,
and Door.
The opposite is "it's near." Yah paas hai.
Yah paas hai.
The word for "near" is paas.

All together, we have Yah paas hai, which means "It's near."
If you are talking about a person, there are some main adjectives we need to cover:
"tall" or lamba

If you are talking about a girl, "She's beautiful," in Hindi is yah sundar hai.

On the other hand, if you are talking about a man, you would say, yah khubasurat hai.

Now, let's look at the negative. In Hindi, "It's not hot" is mausam garam nahi hai.
mausam garam nahi hai.
Let's break it down by syllable and hear it once again: mausam garam nahi hai.
mausam garam nahi hai.
We form the negation with nahi after mausam with the pattern we have just seen, mausam garam hai.
So, all together, we have mausam garam nahi hai, which means "It is not hot."
